Kids who’ve travelled around the world with their family in a Journey Kids backpack will soon have a brand new set of clothes and shoes for the first time.
A Journey Kids member travelled around South Africa to buy the new set and is now trying on the new footwear.
“It’s a great feeling, I feel very confident in my shoes and my new shoes,” she said.
The backpack arrived at the family’s home in Cape Town, South Africa, on Wednesday and the young traveller, who had travelled to South Africa from Japan in the hopes of learning Japanese, was happy to see it.
Her dad and stepdad were also happy with the new clothes and boots, she said, and had already been trying on new shoes from the Journey Kids store in Tokyo.
Ms Shonabe said she felt a lot of pride and happiness in her new set, which was her favourite.
“I think it’s really great to have it here with me.
I have been going on about two weeks, I’ve had lots of fun and I’m really happy,” she told ABC News.
After a week of travel, she returned home and got to trying on a pair of new shoes.
It was her first time trying on shoes since she was in Japan and she said she was really happy.
“[I] was a little nervous about it, I felt like I might not be able to take them off, but I just thought, ‘You know what, I’ll just try them on and see if they feel good,'” she said of the shoes.
“They fit a little bit better than what I expected.
They are a little big for me but it is nice to have something that fits my feet.”
Ms Shonsabe said her family enjoyed her new shoes so much she had already begun to wear them out and on.
She had already purchased a new pair of socks and a new hat.
